What are Google Preferred Sources?
When someone selects your website as a preferred source, your relevant and timely content may appear more prominently for that reader in Top Stories and supported Google Search experiences. This tool makes it easier to install Google’s official button or source-preferences link.
Installation methods
- WordPress: install once through a site-wide code snippet
- Tistory: place the code around the article-content placeholder in the skin HTML
- Blogger: place the XML-safe code around the post-body data tag
- Other platforms: use standard HTML or a direct source-preferences link
Before you install the button
Preferred Sources works at the domain or subdomain level. For example, example.com and news.example.com can be eligible, but a subdirectory such as example.com/blog cannot be selected as a separate source. Use the generated check link to confirm that your website appears in Google’s source preferences.
