How to Display Author Photo Below WordPress Post Title
In the WPlaybook community, we often get questions from people who are new to WordPress blogging. Today, I’ll explain how to display the author’s photo right below the WordPress post title.
Author Info Under WordPress Post Title
When writing a WordPress post, information about who wrote the post, when it was written, and which category it belongs to is called “meta information.” In the image below, the info inside the red box is the meta information.
The part labeled “author” is the author info, and today we’ll focus on showing the author’s photo next to the author name.
How to Change WordPress Post Meta Information
You can customize the meta information related to WordPress posts through the Customize menu.

After clicking Customize, follow these menu options in order:
- Customize > Posts/Pages Layout > Single Post Layout
Scroll down through the General tab, and you will find a section called Title Elements, as shown in the image below.
Show author photo
The author information can be changed via the red box in the image below.

- Show Author? toggle key: Decide whether to show authors or not
- Enable Author Link? toggle: Whether clicking on an author will generate a collection page for that author’s posts
- Show Author Image? Toggle: This is the button we’ve been looking for! Show author image or not?
- Author Label: A description to write to the left of the author’s name, currently “Author:” before admin in the image below. before admin.
Enabling the Author Photo button will create a button at the bottom to resize the photo. Adjust it to the appropriate size and you’re done.

If the Photo Doesn’t Appear – How to Register Your Photo
If the author photo doesn’t show up, go to the Users section, click on your account, and check if your profile picture is set.

What is Gravatar?
Gravatar stands for “Globally Recognized Avatar.” It is an online service that allows users to display a consistent profile picture across the web. Users register an avatar linked to their email address, and this avatar automatically appears as their profile picture or comment image on any website that supports Gravatar.
The Gravatar system helps users maintain a consistent identity across multiple sites, making online recognition and communication easier and more efficient. It’s widely used not only on large platforms like WordPress.com but also on personal blogs, forums, and many other online spaces.
Register a gravatar photo
After you sign up for Gravatar, click your avatar.

Simply click the Upload Image button on the next screen to register your photo, and you’re done. If the change doesn’t immediately reflect on your WordPress site after completing this, just wait a little while—usually, it updates after some time.
